A large Chinese Huanghuali Scroll Pot

Qing Dynasty, 17th - 18th Century

Of massive proportions, heavy stout cylindrical form, the sides have an attractive grain carved with naturalistic designed bark like protrusions. The concave base fitted with a central plug.

This magnificent holder is too large for brushes, it was more likely made to store scrolls and paintings.
